Chak De Anup !
This is my second post of the day. And I intend to keep it very short. Just read that Anup Sridhar knocked out 2004 Olympic gold medalist and Indonesian star Taufik Hidayat in the ongoing World Championships. For the uninitiated, its like David defeating Goliath and all. Hidayat is arguably the Roger Federer of Asian Badminton.
Moreover, it is an egg on the face of the BAI, who raised a furore when he opted to train in Malaysia instead of going through the motions in the coaching camps here. Now into the third round, it would be excellent for the Indian badminton fraternity if he continues his good run. Once again it highlights the fact that individuals make the country proud and not institutions.
I hope this is a sign of bigger things for Anup. And I am sure to track down his performances in the lead up to Beijing 08. Have real high hopes. And to end it on a patriotic note, Chak De Anup !
