About the Writer
The writer is a 20 something average, unattractive lad who goes by the name of Chinmay Kamat. He is a thorough pragmatist, compulsive rationalist, enthusiastic quizzer, knowledge whore and preferential perfectionist. He doesn’t get excited easily and can be phlegmatic at most times.
On the academic front, he pursues Computer Engineering at Sardar Patel Institute of Technology in Mumbai without ever understanding the purpose of his engineering education. He is a complete pseudo-engineer with minimal technical aptitude or know-how. But due to a consistently unfortunate stream of astronomically high academic scores; his parents, peers and teachers think otherwise. He aspires to take up management later with the sole hope that it would be a bit better than technology. Not that he understands too much about marketing or finance or HR or operations, but he is a keen learner – ever ready to understand new facets about the world around him. So he thinks he’ll get through. But as technology pays quite well too, he has refused to rule out that option totally.
He was once a football fanatic. He is not that much into football these days, but still follows the game well enough to pass armchair criticism. He passionately supports Manchester City for the last five years and believes that Robinho is the most over-rated player in their squad. He loves almost all sports and has tried his hand at most – albeit with no success at any level of the competitive hierarchy.
He is also a wannabe quizzer. Peers consider him as a whiz kid because he won some small little quiz back in his school days. But he knows better. He is an enthusiastic quizzer at best. But it’s something he loves to do on Sunday afternoons. He is a regular contributor at Sardar Patel Quiz Club.
He tried a lot of activities during his formative years, without really perservering with any. Before quitting each activity abruptly, he dabbled into swimming, chess, karate, cricket and contract bridge to name a few. He now wants to try his hand at tennis and hopefully it will be a longer affair than his previous ones.
He likes to watch movies, especially English classics and also some not-so-mainstream Bollywood flicks. He’s a music novice and doesn’t really have an opinion on all things music – something he is vehemently chastisised for. He does not understand art or poetry; nor does he have the social skills to compensate for the lack of the former.
He does not set any goals or targets, nor does he have any dreams and nor does he plan to slit his wrists if it all goes awry in love. His outlandish wishlist includes - watching India play in a football World Cup (we do play in the 2011 Asian Games as winners of AFC Challenge Cup), owning a two letter domain, spending some time in Scandinavia and New Zealand, acting in a TV commercial, running a shop in the markets of Mumbai.
And to cap it all off, when he is not battling the wild, weary world; he scribbles some pieces of wisdom on this blog site
